Chris Pope is the co-founder of Sports UpFront. He works as a reporter/anchor at News1130 in Vancouver. He grew up in Palmerston, Ontario before taking off to Hamilton, St. Catharines and Toronto for school. He studied broadcasting at the College of Sports Media under such personnel as Jim Van Horne, Elliotte Freidman, David Amber, Norma Wick and Roger Lajoie. Chris began his broadcasting career at 570News in Kitchener, Ontario before spending time at CKNX in Wingham, but sports have always been his major passion. He played four years in the Junior ranks before retiring to the StrayCats (Men’s League). Chris enjoyed his time as the Colour Commentator for the Mississauga St. Michaels Majors of the Ontario Hockey League in 2009-10. He also spent time calling OHA games. Waiting to find out if he’d play a third season for the Nashville Predators in the NHL this year, the forward wasn’t ready to commit to buying or renting a house in Music City USA. So newly re-signed Predators captain Shea Weber took him in.

“Obviously we weren’t playing or getting paid and I figured it would be easier for him to move into my place than to rent a place and pay for something when he didn’t need to,” says Weber.
